CANCELLATION POLICY
If you need to cancel an appointment, just let us know via the secure patient portal at least two business days (48 hours) ahead of time. If you don’t contact us via the secure patient portal, or you don’t show up to your appointment within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, you will be charged the full amount for the reserved appointment time. Health insurance companies do not cover the costs of missed appointments and do not reimbursement for no-show fees. Sapelo Psychiatry depends on timely, full payment for services in order to provide the highest quality of care to all of our patients.
*Instances of fraud, identity theft, and/or theft of services will be reported for criminal prosecution. To maintain the integrity of our company, we expect honesty in all business transactions.
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES POLICY
Sapelo Psychiatry does not treat ADHD using DEA Schedule II drugs (e.g., stimulants such as Adderall or Ritalin). Moreover, Sapelo Psychiatry does NOT prescribe DEA Schedule IV controlled substances such as benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax) without a face-to-face in-office appointment. Since these drugs are controlled substances with potential for addiction or abuse, they are NOT appropriate for initial treatment via telehealth. Sapelo Psychiatry may offer alternative medication(s) which are not DEA Schedule II controlled substances; if indicated by the provider, other DEA Schedule III thru V controlled substances require a face-to-face in-office appointment and controlled substance agreement with mandatory drug testing. Additionally, our treatment guidelines require a comprehensive approach including psychotherapy and behavior modification to help relieve your symptoms. We know that the benefits of medication are more long-lasting when combined with positive coping strategies, patient support, and accountability. Sapelo Psychiatry prioritizes integrative, human-centered solutions that help patients reach full remission.
